Welcome to Highworth Bowls Club
Highworth Bowls Club is a mixed lawn bowling club, established in 1936. Our six-rink green is currently one of the best in the area, and our roomy clubhouse and bar offers a friendly welcome and excellent facilities for our bowlers, social members, and guests. The Club is situated in Highworth, a market town in the north-east corner of Wiltshire, in the U.K. Our men and lady bowlers compete in the Bowls Wiltshire and Swindon & District competitions.
Of course, you don’t have to bowl to be a member of Highworth Bowls Club. Our clubhouse and bar is open throughout the year for our social and bowling members – after bowling throughout the summer, we play short mat bowls, crib, bingo and league skittles throughout the winter – and new members are most welcome.
The Club has completed a major program of improvements, including a fully redecorated clubhouse, with new ceiling lighting, and an all-new professionally built bar. With the support of the excellent Wadworth brewery, we serve a wide range of draft and bottled beers, wines and spirits.
The clubhouse and bar is open to our bowling and social members throughout the year – and when the bowling season draws to a close, a range of winter activities begin – most winter evenings have some kind of organised activity taking place, including skittles, crib, indoor short mat bowling, and bingo.
Membership fees for 2015
Highworth Bowls Club welcomes both playing and non-playing (social) members. Social members are entitled to enjoy all the facilities of the Club except for full use of the green, and they form a much valued element of the total Club membership.
- Full bowling membership is £90.00 pounds per year.
- For Senior bowlers and Beginner bowlers, membership is £45 for the year.
- Junior bowlers (under 18 years), pay just £2.00 per year.
- Social membership costs just £11.50 per year.
An invitation to non-members
If you’d like to come along to the Club and have a look, please feel free at any time. During the summer you’ll find the club in use most evenings, and weekend afternoons. We have plenty of seating around the green for spectators, and what could be more relaxing on a warm summer’s afternoon than watching a game of bowls? Remember, visitors are welcome.
If you would like to become a member, just pick up a membership application from the Club, and have a word with a Club member or our Club bar steward for advice on how to apply. For new bowlers, our qualified coaches can help you get started, and you’ll always find other bowlers prepared to offer guidance and encouragement.
