Proposal for Internal Competition

Recent changes to Government guidance on social distancing, and updated advice from Bowls England, means that we are now allowed to bowl with 5 others (on the same rink), not from the same household.

Based on this new guidance, and because many club members aren’t too interested in just a “roll up”, the Management Committee are considering running some friendly competitions in the form of a pairs/triples league(s) and possibly a singles competition to spark some interest.

With regards to the triple’s leagues, some people may be concerned about the number of people milling around with regards to social distancing, therefore please indicate your willingness to participate if these were triples, not pairs leagues.

The suggestions are:

Afternoon comp

Every Monday and/or Friday from 2pm – 4pm.

Evening comp

Every Tuesday and/or Thursday from 6pm to 8pm (to accommodate those that are still working)

Team selection would be a weighted selection, by senior club members, based on perceived abilities.

In addition, it has been suggested that we run a mixed singles knockout competition

ALL GAMES WILL BE SUBJECT TO CURRENT RULES/GUIDELINES e.g. NO measuring, no ‘pushers’, no scoreboards, social distancing, etc

Please indicate your interest and preferences BEFORE 22nd June 2020 to:
