Although there were no major title wins for Highworth bowlers in this year, Highworth names have been figuring more prominently in some of the later stages of competitions, reflecting a greater confidence and competitive spirit within the Club.

Especially encouraging has been the performances of some of our newer bowlers, who are now making significant contributions to our success.
 
 After a nail-biting end to the season, Highworth men eventually finished top of the table to win their division of the Wiltshire Four Rink evening league - a feat that has not been accomplished by Highworth since the mid seventies. Highworth rinks

 Neil Hope, Martin Hope and Ian Thomas reached the quarter finals of the Wiltshire triples competition, where they ran up against the Westlecot trio of Steve Warren, Mel Biggs and Mark Dyer at Malmesbury, losing 17-24 to exit the competition. Highworth Triple in Club coloured shirts
 
 Neil Hope and Ian Thomas both reached the last 16 in the Wiltshire singles competition, where they were drawn against each other at Chippenham Town. Neil's convincing win here took him on to the singles semi-finals at Westlecot, where he lost by just two shots to Mike Jackson. Neil also reached the Under 25's Finals, which were played on the same day, again just edged out by a small margin to Russell Francis of Spencer Moulton.

 At a presentation ceremony at the Dunbar Club, Swindon, bowls coach Tricia Woodland (Highworth) was named as the Wiltshire Female Coach of the Year 2001.

The award, which embraces all sports, was given in recognition of Tricia's outstanding contribution to coaching in her chosen sport. Tricia took up playing bowls in 1982 and became an Instructor in 1988, progressing to Coach in 1992 and Advanced Coach in 1999. She became the Wiltshire County Coach in 1997 and in that capacity, Tricia leads her coaching team around clubs, coaches individuals and groups on request, trains and assesses new Instructors, Club Coaches and Coaches and organises coaching workshops and seminars. She has also served as deputy regional coach, covering seven counties.
