15-07-24 saw a visit from the Friends of English Bowling, an organisation established in 2005 and they are the biggest supporter of the sport and use their funds to back National Championships and Competition events, to support Disability Bowls England, assist youth development and support First Aid facilities. Over the years the Friends have been able to donate hundreds of thousands of pounds to the sport.
A Friendly mixed 6 rinks match was played in light showers on a well prepared and much admired green, but the damp conditions didn’t spoil the entertaining and fun bowling across the 6 rinks. The result was an overall win for Friends of English Bowling and the match was followed by a wonderful two course meal and raffle in the club house rounded off by the Treasurer of Friends of English Bowling Clive Handscome, presenting Chris Mussen the Captain for the day with a plaque to commemorate the match.
Thank you to all those who managed to play some at very short notice.
Events like this would not be able to happen without a huge amount of planning and preparation and lots of hard work on the day. A big special thanks to the super team of volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to provide the excellent meal which was enjoyed by all and run the bar which makes these friendly matches so enjoyable.
All the upcoming friendly matches are displayed on the notice board by the changing room entrance door and all bowling members can sign up to play for new members it is a great way to gain match experience in a relaxed and friendly matches get to know other bowlers and to visit other clubs.
